Serving Greater Hobart and southern Tasmania

About us

We mount televisions. Properly.

MountPro Hobart is a TV wall mounting and soundbar installation service covering the six council areas of Greater Hobart. This page is what we actually do and how we work, rather than a paragraph about our passion for customer service.

How we are different here

Two things. We publish our prices, which no established Hobart competitor does. And we work out what your wall is made of before drilling it, because in a city this old that decides the job.

What we do

Why Hobart needed a specialist

Most mounting advice, and most mounting businesses, assume brick veneer and plasterboard. Hobart holds some of the oldest housing stock in Australia: weatherboard over old-growth hardwood framing, lath and plaster linings that carry no load, colonial sandstone in Battery Point and Salamanca, and heritage listings across whole precincts.

A television that takes 45 minutes to hang in a Kingston brick-veneer home can take 90 minutes in a West Hobart cottage. Pretending otherwise is how people end up with a quote that changes on the day, or a screen fixed to a lath.

The eight wall types we work on, and what each will hold.

How we work

  1. Prices published. On the pricing page, including the surcharges most installers leave until they are in your living room.
  2. The wall assessed before anything is drilled. Framing located and confirmed with a probe, not on the strength of a detector beep.
  3. Height set from where you sit. Screen centre against your seated eye line, agreed with you, not a default height.
  4. Quoted on site where a phone quote would be guessing. Sandstone, heritage fabric and rendered blockwork all hide what is behind them.
  5. Handed over working. Devices connected, picture and sound checked, drop sheets up, site clean.

The jobs we turn down

This is the part most about pages leave out. We decline work, and these are the cases:

  • A wall that will not safely hold the screen. We stop, explain why, and do not charge for a mount we did not fit.
  • A television below the clearance a wood heater’s own manual requires, or a full-motion mount holding a screen in a heat plume. Why.
  • Drilling listed sandstone or significant heritage fabric before the owner has spoken to a heritage advisor. How that works.
  • Running mains power inside a wall as part of a mounting job. That is licensed electrical work and it belongs to an electrician.

Hobart and Brisbane

We also operate MountPro Brisbane in Queensland. Same team, same standards, two separate service areas with their own pricing and their own local knowledge. Nothing on this site is Brisbane work presented as Hobart work, which is why you will not find reviews or job photos here until they are genuinely ours from this city.

Where we work

Hobart, Clarence, Glenorchy, Kingborough, Brighton and Sorell, with no call-out fee. The full suburb list.

Being straight with you: our ABN, insurance details and workmanship warranty are not published on this site yet, and we have no Hobart reviews to show. We would rather leave those blank than borrow numbers from our Brisbane operation. Ask us directly and we will tell you.

Start with the specifics

Want it done by someone who checks first?

Send the screen size, your suburb and roughly when the house was built. That last one tells us more about the job than anything else you could send.

What to send us

  • Screen size and model
  • Your suburb
  • Roughly when the house was built
